The Protein Service provides access and training on multiple state-of-the art biophysical instrumentation.
These instruments facilitate the characterization and quality control of macromolecules and their complexes.
Quality control of purified proteins is an important aspect of protein purification and should routinely be done for every batch.
A minimum quality control would include:
- Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) for size and aggregation analysis,
- SDS-PAGE analysis to check purity of samples,
- Quantification by absorbance measurements at 280 nm.
In addition the Protein Service offers the following techniques to further characterize the quality of your protein preparations:
• Size exclusion chromatography coupled with multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS)
• Mass photometry (Refeyn TwoMP)
• Prometheus Panta (NanoTemper)
• Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC)
